Kinect voice control to hit Australia in December

Microsoft Australia has announced a long-overdue update will allow Kinect voice control in Australia and New Zealand before the end of the year, more than 12 months after the system's launch.

Gamespot reports a "mid December" release date has been attached to the update.

The motion controller's voice capabilities have been available since launch in November 2010, but only supported American and British English, Japanese, and Mexican Spanish, and were disabled in other territories.

The update's release fulfils a promise made in June.

As well as a handful of system commands, Kinect's voice controls are supported by a number of upcoming games, including Mass Effect 3.
