Kinect has given Xbox 360 a "shot of adrenaline," says Lewis

Xbox 360 VP Chris Lewis has said the console is "halfway through" its lifecycle, and thanks to the release of Kinect, a "shot of adrenaline" has been given to the console.

"We see [360] as about halfway through ... Xbox is defying the normal curve you might expect. There's no doubt that Kinect put a huge shot of adrenaline into the business," he told MCV.

"What we are now seeing is massive swathes of families and younger audiences flocking to it. As you saw at the press conference, we are now in line with what we projected at E3 2010."

Lewis went on say Microsoft has focused more on families with Kinect, and with the success it had with this marketing move, it's now setting its sights on the core gamer.

"What you will see is us using Kinect to enhance the experience and not detract from it," he said. "I don't think our core gamers will tolerate anything else from us."
