Kiip aims to connect ads to game achievements - video

A Silicon Valley startup, Kiip, is aiming to turn mobile game advertising on its head by giving you coupons as achievements.

Watch the video below. In a nutshell, Kiip gives you stuff when you do good things in games. In the "big moments" when you beat levels, solve puzzles, and so on, you get rewarded.

"The idea behind the achievement, which is exactly when you're capturing the customer at that point of elation, to convert them into a brand advocate is great," said Mark Goldstein, co-founder.

Watch and see. The future? Maybe a little of it. Thanks, Kotaku.

Patrick Garratt is a games media legend - and not just by reputation. He was named as such in the UK's 'Games Media Awards', the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. After garnering experience on countless gaming magazines, he joined Eurogamer and later split from that brand to create VG247, putting the site on the map with fast, 24-hour a day coverage, and assembling the site's earliest editorial teams. He retired from VG247, and the games industry, in 2017.
