Kickstarter game funding passes $200 million for 2013

Kickstarter funding in 2013 hit $919 million across all project types in 2013, and some $200 million of that figure can be attributed to successfully funded games.

By drilling down on the Kickstarter stats page, you can see that game funding hit $200.42 million this year, with 7,922 launched projects. While visibly prosperous in monetary terms, the overall success rate for game projects on Kickstarter sits at 35.08%, while music has a 55.24% success rate with 26,462 launched projects in 2013.

29 game projects managed to raise over $1 million on Kickstarter in 2013 (that's 54 to date), while 1,028 campaigns hit the most common threshold of between $1,000 and $9,999 raised.

2013 saw 4,933 unsuccessful game Kickstarter attempts with most projects failing at around 1-20% funded.
