Kalypso Media forms Gaming Minds Studios with parts of Ascaron

Kalypso Media has announced the formation of Gaming Minds Studios, which includes former Ascaron developers and titles.

Ascaron filed for bankruptcy April and Kalypso purchased parts of the troubled company, particularly the rights to develop The Patrician III.

"For Kalypso, this move is not just an expansion of our own studio capacities, but will also allow us greater independence in our games development," said Kalypso managing director, Stefan Marcinek.

"We currently have four new titles scheduled for release in 2010 which are being developed in our Munich and Gütersloh studios."

Kalypso Media is majority partner of the again-created studio in Gütersloh, which firmiert under the name Gaming Minds studio GmbH. Under the line of the partners Daniel Dumont and Kay Struve the team consists of fifteen developers, that were active before times for Ascaron entertainment.

“For Kalypso this means not only the extension of the own studio capacities, but above all also a still larger independence. For 2010 we plan with altogether four plays, which are developed from our studios in Munich and Gütersloh. ”, so Stefan Marcinek, global Managing Director Kalypso Media Group.

At the beginning of of June had already taken over Kalypso a majority of the licenses and Assets of the insolvent Ascaron entertainment GmbH. Among them also “haven Royale”, “Darkstar One”, “impact” and “Patrizier” - latter series is continued in the summer 2010 with “the Patrizier III”.

“In Europe and straight in Germany the Patrizier 1 and 2 belong to the most well-known plays, with which the fans wait for a long time for a continuation. By the assumption of the original license and the Ur-developers can we now a worthy successor of the cult series develop and world-wide marked out. ”, so Marcinek further.

The studio in Gütersloh is led of Daniel Dumont as managing director and a Lead designer, while Kay Struve coordinates and answers for the internal expirations of development as Technical Director.
