Just Cause developer not using Wii U dev kits

Avalanche Studios has said its Wii U development kits are just 'collecting dust' in the office, as it's reluctant to invest in the arguably struggling platform.

In an interview with Pressfire translated by The Escapist, founder Christofer Sundberg said Avalanche isn't using its Nintendo tech.

"We actually had some development kits that just collected dust," he said.

"It's a bit sad, because we wanted to do something. I think it is a cool platform, but right now it's not just up to us."

"We want the game to reach as many as possible."

Analysts, retailers, and even Nintendo itself have expressed disappointment in the Wii U's hardware sales to date. The platform holder has promised a pile of new games over the next year, which may help revive interest. DICE also recently revealed it hasn't had too much joy with the Wii U from a hardware perspective.

Avalanche Studios has been working on secret projects since the release of Renegade Ops; it's believed to have Just Cause 3 and Mad Max in the works.
