Former PlayStation boss' investment fund teams up with Epic to invest in PC-first indie games

Jack Tretton, former Sony Computer Entertainment of America president, recently announced Interactive Gaming Ventures.

Interactive Gaming Ventures is Tretton's investment fund, designed to help indie projects get the money they need to complete and publish their games.

The company has entered into a partnership with Epic Games that'll see it fund Unreal Engine 4-based games from "experienced" indie teams who intended to release the games first on PC.

The fund will invest in two-three projects a year for the next seven years, a value of $1 million and $5 million per project. Part of the benefit is that developers will also have full ownership of the IP.

Developers who become part of this program will receive money based on development milestone, not to mention publishing and promotion support. They must, however, plan on releasing their games on PC first, even if they want to release console and mobile ports at a later date.
