Apple's announced iPad sold over 300k in its opening weekend on sale in the US.

The company also confirmed that 1 million Apps were downloaded for the tablet device across the weekend, with over 250k of books sold from its iBookstore day one.

"It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said. "iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad."

No date has been announced by Apple over when it will reach the UK, Europe or other countries around the world.

Various gaming developers released or re-released several iPhone games to support iPad, including Capcom and Konami, who released Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid: Touch for the platform.
