Intimacy Mode removed from PS4 version of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal
XSEED Games has announced a slight delay for Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal in order to remove Intimacy Mode from the PlayStation 4 version.
The western delay of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal was announced by XSEED Games on Twitter.
XSEED said it needed additional time to remove Intimacy Mode from the PS4 version and "respects the wishes" of the platform holder. The PC version will remain intact.
Senran Kagura Burst was originally released on Nintendo 3DS as a 2.5D brawler. The Re:Newal version brings the girl's "original high-bouncing adventures into full 3D on the big screen."
It is rated M for Mature by the ESRB and PEGI-16 in Europe, which is a standard rating for games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, and many, many more.
Featuring partial nudity and sexual situations, Sony likely balked at Intimacy Mode's content due to the girls in the game being in high school.
Tom Lipschultz, XSEED's localization producer, commented on the removal, stating while he doesn't "like intimacy mode" in the game, he always "stood up for it."
He went on to comment Sony's issue with Intimacy Mode seems to be a "brand new policy." It's not a new addition, as other XSEED games on PS4 have included the mode.
"I'm sure the age of the characters doesn't help, but I believe it's the interactivity in general that's the issue," he said on Twitter. "I don't believe changing the ages would make any difference."
Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal was slated for a fall release, and we're looking for more information on a new release window. It was released for PS4 in Japan back in February.
