Insomnia The Ark launches into a dark retro future, unveils release trailer

Insomnia The Ark, a diselpunk sci-fi RPG nine years in the making, has finally arrived on Steam.

Insomnia: The Ark has been a long time coming. Developed by Russian developer Mono Studio over the course of nine years, it gained a significant following after a successful 2014 Kickstarter campaign. Now this retro sci-fi RPG is finally ready to play, and looks like an impressive combination of Fallout, Mass Effect, and Bioshock.

Insomnia takes place on Object 6, a colossal space station on a 400-year journey to a new homeworld. Your character wakes up from cyro-sleep with a rare psychological disease dubbed "insomnia", warping your perceptions of reality. As you explore Object 6, you'll discover what remains of human society is on the edge of civil war - and you are the key factor in shaping its future.

Much like Fallout, Insomnia offers a non-linear RPG campaign that's 60+ hours in length, with 12 possible endings. Your chosen background influences how NPCs and factions will interact with you, and can influence the direction of key quests. The game also offers a classes perk-based leveling system balanced alongside detailed crafting and equipment mechanics. You'll also have to deal with survival gameplay such as hunger, thirst, and fatigue, which might come into play anytime while exploring Object 6.

Insomnia: The Ark is available now on Steam for £29.99, currently on a 10% launch discount.
