Indie Fund backs Fract OSC

A musical puzzler called Fract OSC is the latest game to win approval from the Indie Fund.

The Indie Fund "jumped at the opportunity" to help bring Fract to completion, the organisation announced.

The product of Montreal team Phosfiend Games, Fract OSC is a "musical exploration game" set in an abstract world of sound. Players solve puzzles to rebuild machines and create their own music. A trailer below gives some idea of what's going on.

Fract OSC debuted at the Independent Games Festival in 2011 and won best student game, with a later version scoring an honourable mention for excellence in audio at this year's IGF.

The Indie Fund is a funding body of successful indie developers including Braid creator Jonathan Blow and thatgamecompany co-founder Kellee Santiago, among others. It aims to provide an alterantive to traditional publishing contracts to encourage a new generation of independent creators.
