Indie and other games of interest: Jack the Ripper, Prinny 2, more

sherlockvsjacktheripper

Not too much this week for this post, so don't go into it expected a massive wall of text and tags - sorry to say.

Still, there's a bit below the page break such as demos, Steam offerings, content updates, news on Prinny 2 and other stuff regarding games that normally bypass the front page.

Click onward and read all about it.

  • 1C has announced that a demo for King's Bounty: Armored Princess has been made available. You can download it here. The full game's out on November 20 via most digital outlet sites. Anyway, back to the demo. It includes: A big island to explore, character Princess Amelie, a pet dragon (yay!)that does wondrous things on the battlefield, new races, new spells, how to turn a horse into a Pegasus, and a new engine supporting updated graphics. Armored Princess is an add-on to King's Bounty: The Legend.
  • Big Brain Wolf has landed on Steam and is full of childhood fairytale folks like Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs, and the Seven Dwarves. It's a point-and-click adventure with puzzles and an asthmatic vegetarian wolf studying to become a genie. There are 60 different puzzles you must solves to reveal clues to a mysterious murder. Hit up Steam for more info.
  • Asgard Heroes has gone into the Alpha stage of its Beta testing. The browser game features thousands of Altarians fighting for survival and you start out as a commander of an abandoned colony on a deserted planet, who must help rebuild and reach the stars. Sounds interesting enough. The full press release is over on GamersHell. Apply for the Beta through here.
  • A patch was released this week for Kerberos' RPG, Fort Zombie. The updated includes free content such as:10 new missions, new weapons, support for incremental weapon reloading, and more along with bug fixes and tweaks. Full patch notes are through here. Via BigDownload.
  • Frogwares has announced that Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper will land in Europe for 360 on November 26. The game is already out for PC. It is worth noting though, that the events in the game never actually happened in literature. Although Sir Arthur Conan Doyle never wrote a novel or short story about his famous sleuth investigating the dastardly Jack the Ripper, a movie called Murder by Decree was filmed starring the great Christopher Plummer and depicted such an event for celluloid in 1979. This must be where the idea for the game stemmed from, because it was indeed a great film and who would not have wished for Holmes to have gone after the creep of London? Furthermore, the idea is such a good one that a remake of the movie was made in 2001 by the Hughes brothers titled From Hell starring Johnny Depp, which understandably left out the great detective and replaced him with another sort of investigator instead. Both were very good movies, but highly fictional accounts of the real story and neither involved Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Be that as it may, if you are a fan of Holmes and his deductive reasoning, you may want to give this a go - IGN have it an 8/10 on PC ya know.
  • NIS has announced that its started work on Prinny 2 for PSP. Tentatively titled Prinny 2: Suicide Attack Game, and while that's about all that has been revealed, the site says that in 1,000 hours it will re-open, teasing that it will have more information on the sequel. Yay. Another countdown site. Expect more info on this when that happens, sometime around Christmas. Thanks, Kotowari.
  • A video for Muse's Gun of Icarus has popped up on the official site. It looks great, and is full of aerial combat. You like aerial combat. Go watch.
