Facebook's director of EMEA platform Julien Codorniou has given a new interview, in which he stressed the relevance of Facebook as a gaming platform, and added that if you want to be successful in the mobile scene, you need to start on the social network first.
It comes from an interview with The Telegraph, in which Codorniou stated, "There is a new pattern in the world of gaming, which is that if you want to be big on mobile, you have to start on Facebook."
His reasoning is that the gaming demographic continues to widen, and that people are playing games in more places and on more formats than before. "People want to play games all the time," he went on. "They want to play on PC when they are at work or at home; they want to play on the phone when they are commuting or waiting in a line at Starbucks; they want to play on an iPad when they are watching TV. That cross-platform scenario that Facebook makes possible is what defines the next generation of gaming companies."
He touted the notion of global availability by releasing on Facebook, and flagged up the 260 million people who play Facebook games each month, equating to 600,000 people a day who actually pay for games.
