id Software celebrates 19th birthday

Quake-maker id Software celebrated its 19th birthday yesterday.

The studio was founded in 1991 by John Carmack, John Romero, Tom Hall and Adrian Carmack [no relation to John - JC].

Last year was a pretty big one for id.

It was taken over by ZeniMax, Bethesda's parent group, for an undisclosed sum, although it was revealed $105 million was borrowed to conduct the deal.

The developer is currently workking on Rage for PS3, 360, and PC for a release this year, as well as DOOM 4.

The latter still hasn't been shown, but should make this year's Quakecon, given what id's CEO Todd Hollenshead told Nathan at last year's event.
