"I could make the biggest PR disaster of all time and the game would still be finished," says PUBG creator of the Bluehole team

The development team behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will finish the game no matter what.

Creator Brendan Greene, aka PlayerUnknown, has said that he's lucky to have a team as passionate about the game as the game's developers at Korean outfit Bluehole are.

Speaking to PCGamer, Greene confessed that his earlier promise that the game would only take six months to finish was born from a lack of experience in development.

"I made promises when we started development in a range of things. That came from naivety on my part—I don't have a lot of experience of the industry, and making games is quite hard at times," he said.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was initially supposed to leave Steam Early Access around October, but the launch date recently got pushed to Q4 2017. Greene is "very confident", however, about the new target.

"I can never say how lucky I am enough to have found this team. I could run naked through E3 and make the biggest PR disaster of all time and the game would still be finished," Greene of the game's developers.

"That's the beautiful thing: the game will be complete, the game will be finished, the game will be fine no matter what I do. I'm so lucky to have that, I can't express how thankful I am of the team."

Greene's insistence on saying that the game will be finished has to do with a long legacy of survival games and mods that have languished in Early Access for years with no end in sight. Indeed, the game Greene previously consulted on, H1Z1: King of the Kill, is in this group, so it's understandable he doesn't want to be attached with yet another perpetual Early Access release.

In other PUBG news, the big monthly patch has hit the test servers finally, with a full release expected tomorrow. This is one patch fans have been waiting for, thanks to the inclusion of first-person servers, FOV slider, new weapon, and some big changes.
