Humble Indie Bundle 3 closes down with $2.1 million earned

The third Humble Indie Bundle has outdone its precursors, bringing home $2,167,676.22 in support of independent developers and charitable industry funds.

372,354 bundles were purchased, with the average user forking out $5.82 for the collection of games, well up from the $5.05 average before a handful of new games were added in.

As usual, Linux users were the most generous, handing over $12.03 on average, with Mac and Windows trailing on $7.72 and $4.89 respectively.

The figures may be a little skewed by a handful of massive donations - Minecraft creator Notch engaged in his usual bidding war, contesting Bitcoin exchange site MtGox for top place. Both paid over $4,000 in the end.

Flying Fox Games raised $3,000 and Jonathan Blow contributed $2,718 on behalf of his new game, The Witness.

I hope you didn't miss out - although we did warn you! The Humble Bundle will no doubt be back soon with another trove of cross-platform, open source independent games, sold for a good cause.
