How to Chop Down Trees in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee

Early on in both Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, you might find plenty of trees blocking your path. These can actually be cut down, but only with one method. In our guide to both games, we'll be walking you through how to chop down trees in Pokemon Let's Go as easily as possible.

How to Cut Down Trees in Pokemon Let's Go

As we mentioned above, you'll find some very weak-looking trees in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. If you walk up to them and press A, you'll find that you can cut them down, but at the beginning of the game you lack the ability to do so.

That is, until you reach Vermilion City. Previously in the main story of Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, you'll have rescued a man named Bill, that's been transformed into a Pokemon. Once you've done this, he will have granted you two tickets aboard the S.S. Ann, which departs from the southern end of Vermilion City.

Once you've boarded the ship itself, you need to make your way past the various sailors and cabins, and up to the third floor of the ship. Just before you can make your way to the Captain, your nemesis will appear and challenge you to a Pokemon battle, which you've got no choice but to except.

After you're done with this battle, head up to the Captain's cabin. Speak to the Captain, who's not feeling too well, and you can give him a pat on the back to make him feel (somehow) better. Now that the Captain is feeling better, he'll happily teach your Pikachu or Eevee the special Chop Down move.

Now that you're in possession of the move Chop Down, you can walk up to any tree, press A to interact with it, and have your Pokemon pull off the special move. You can firstly use to clear the path to the Vermilion City Gym, where you can take on the Electric-type Gym Leader.
