God of War Guide: How to Break into the Hive

To dispel the Black Breath and reach the summit of the mountain, Kratos and Atreus must first journey to the mysterious realm of Alfheim, which is in the grip of war between factions of elves, and fill their Bifrost with light. As they grow close to their goal, the father and son encounter resistance not just in the form of enemies, but traps too. Here’s how to break into the hive in God of War.

This puzzle revolves around lining up sets of three pods so that you can take them out cleanly with your axe throw. We’ve embedded screenshots below to help out, as well as written instructions.

How to break into the hive in God of War:

First, get your bearings. Stand at the top of the walkway that you came up to reach the platform with the pulsating nodes.

Then walk over to the top left - or northeast - side of the platform, and turn around so you’re facing back toward the walkway. Line up your axe throw with the three nodes in front of you, then let fly. Match the screen below if you’re stuck:

Next, walk forward to the bottom left hand corner of the platform and turn around again. There should be three more nodes that line up on your right hand side. Again, match your position with the screenshot below if you don’t know where to stand:

Finally, go the the right hand side of the platform and stand about in the middle. There should only be three nodes left, including the one that’s in the door to the hive. Line them up, then throw the Leviathan axe. This should clear the whole platform. The last screenshot shows where to position Kratos:

You’ve now broken into the hive! Venture forth into your next challenge.
