Hawken live action series will launch in 2013, see the trailer here

Hawken, the free -to-play mech blaster from Adhesive Games is to be adapted into a live action series courtesy of DJ2 entertainment and Warner Premier. They describe it as “Romeo & Juliet” meets “District 9.” Check out the trailer here.

In an interview with The Wrap, DJ2's Dmitri M. Johnson confirmed that the Hawken web series will launch online in 2013.

Johnson also discussed how his company got the rights to make the series, "I assumed someone already got it because it was so huge. Big names were chasing this - A-list directors and big hit agencies.”

But Johnson's team won the deal after spending time with Adhesive Games.

Creative director Dan Jevon was also able to shed light on the plot, which sees two pilots from rival factions battling it out on a planet riddled with a nano virus.

Jevon explained, "They witness an event that suggests there is more to the nano-virus than meets the eye. Now the race is on to discover the virus’ origins and true purpose before their respective clans wipe each other out in a final, climatic battle."
