Hard West is the Wild West version of XCOM

Hard West is what happens when turn-based-strategy goes back to Old West.

Hard West, the turn-based-strategy from Polish indie studio CreativeForge Games, has a new gameplay trailer available. Hard West sports a warm, soft look to maintain a tone aligned with that of a 60s film set in the Wild West.

It's X-Com, basically, with some grand-strategy elements and customisable characters. The combat UI looks easy to understand at a glance, clearly showing points of cover, weapons range and quick ability bar.

Music is by The Wither 3 composer Marcin Przybyłowicz, and it's written by Haris Orkin - who worked on Dying Light and Company of Heroes 2.

This video does a pretty good job of going over all the gameplay features. It's got no commentary, which really accentuates the game's mood and surprisingly sharp sound design.

Hard West available to pre-order on Steam for $16, down from regular $20. It's out November 18 on PC, Mac, and Linux.
