Halo TV series to debut on Paramount+ in 2022

The series has been moved from Showtime to Paramount+.

Showtime’s Halo TV series based on the Xbox franchise will not air on the subscription channel as planned, but will instead debut on the Paramount+ service, reports Deadline.

The series is produced by Showtime via a partnership with Amblin Television and 343 Industries and will premiere on Paramount+ in Q1 2022.

Showtime will continue to produce Halo for Paramount+ and it will continue to be led by Gary Levine and Amy Israel.

The adaption will cover the 26th-century conflict between humanity and the Covenant, and will "deliver the visceral excitement of playing the game, along with a much deeper emotional experience around the Spartans, human beings who got their humanity chemically and genetically altered,” said David Nevins, chief creative officer, CBS & chairman and CEO, Showtime Networks.

Back in July, it was revealed that Halo was well into shooting its first season after the coronavirus pandemic had shut down production in March.

The show stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, Shabana Azmi as Admiral Margaret Parangosky, Natasha Culzac as Riz 028, Bjorn Freiberg as ONIM 007 ONI Officer, Olive Gray as Dr. Miranda Keyes, Yerin Ha as Quan Ah, Jen Taylor as Cortana, and Bentley Kalu as Vannak-134, among others.

Halo was originally announced in 2013 as part of Xbox Entertainment Studios before it was shut down in 2014 and the show was shifted over to Showtime where it was greenlit in 2018.
