Halo: Escalation comic series in production at Dark Horse

Halo is being given the comic treatment courtesy of Dark Horse, according to Halo 4 director Frank O'Connor.

Speaking with Polygon ahead of a panel at Comic-Con, O'Connor said, "Yes, I can confirm that we are working on a Halo comic book series with Dark Horse, and we'll have more details at the panel tomorrow."

By tomorrow he means today, so stay tuned for more information on the comic at some point.

Meanwhile, Wired reports that the comic series is called Halo: Escalation and is scheduled for release December 11

The site believes lead writer on Halo 4 Chris Schlerf is on writing duties, and that Mass Effect and Star Wars comic artist Omar Francia will be creating art for the first three issues. Dragon Age comic artist Anthony Palumbo is said to be illustrating the covers.

We'll have more once the panel happens and the details spill out of Comic-Con. Meanwhile, another Dark Horse adaptation of the series, Halo: Initiation will launch August 14. It stars Sarah Palmer as she defends the Spartan IV programme.
