Halo 5: What does this injured Master Chief image mean?

Halo 5 looks set to feature a pretty down and out version of Master Chief.

Halo 5: Guardians is still a good ways away, but this image is purported to show a commercial for the upcoming shooter.

The brand new Reddit user who posted it didn't give any verifying details, saying only that it was posted on social media before being deleted, and the original poster is somehow related to "production". As such it may all be total balls.

But let's enjoy the possibility of a universe were it is real and speculate wildly.

So is that Nightfall's Agent Locke meeting an injured or otherwise incapacitated Master Chief, or is it the mysterious second character shown in Halo 5's cover art? What's that monument behind the Chief? Is it possible there's nobody inside the suit?

We're all still feeling a bit burned by Halo: the Master Chief Collection's unbelievably still unresolved matchmaking issues, but it's clearly time to get excited about Halo 5, which is due on Xbox One in northern autumn.
