H1Z1 duos locked and not available? It unlocks later this week

H1Z1’s battle royale game mode has finally made its way onto PS4. It’s a free-to-play open beta right now, but the game is slated to come with all of the modes and features you’d expect from an early access battle royale - customisable gear, daily challenges, as well as Solo, Duos and team play. The thing is though, Duos is currently locked in the game select screen - but don’t worry, it’s supposed to be that way.

H1Z1 Duos on PS4:

We’ve seen a few people asking us the same question - how do you play Duos in H1Z1 on PS4? To clear things up here’s the answer straight from Daybreak Games themself:

“During Closed Beta testing, we identified several performance issues we are still working to address, specifically as it relates to team modes,” Daybreak said in a blog on their official site.

“With today’s Open Beta launch, Solos, Fives, and Combat Training will be unlocked for play all day, with Duos to unlock later this week once we’ve implemented and tested additional performance improvements. We’ll need your help once Duos unlocks to let us know your results!”

When H1Z1 launched on PS4 there were a few server problems to begin with, as players experienced long load times and difficulty finding games. These new problems may have set back the implementation of Duos slightly, but no delay has been communicated at this time. Daybreak are actively sharing their update progress on Twitter, and we’ll also keep on top of developments.

The release of H1Z1 on PS4 - where the game hit more than 200,000 concurrent players last night - was a positive turn for Daybreak after a rocky couple of months. The studio announced layoffs in April following alleged ties to a Russian oligarch whose assets had been frozen by the United States Government.
