Guild Wars 2 to allow free server transfers during launch period

Guild Wars 2 drops in just under two weeks, so it's time to start figuring out which server you should choose - but don't worry if you can't make up your mind.

In a new blog post, ArenaNet explained that while players will be asked to pick a home server straight off the bat, you'll be able to switch servers as often as you like, and for free.

This offer only applies to the MMORPG's launch window, through; once things are "largely settled and stabilized", you'll be charged a number of gems for each transfer and limited to once a week.

Luckily, ArenaNet plans to introduce Guesting so you'll still be able to play with mates if you get stuck - althouygh while Guesting, you can't participate in World vs. World events.

Interestingly, although players will be divided into Norther American and European regions (check the link above to see where your nation falls), you'll be able to pick a server from any region. Watch for lag, though.

Guild Wars 2 opens its doors on August 28.
