These GTA Online Freemode Events won't punish you with a Bad Sport rating

Some of the new Freemode Events in GTA Online can still earn you Bad Sport and Mental State ratings. Some will cost you insurance money. Some don't. Here's the 411.

GTA Online's Freemode Events dropped this week, throwing live challenges and objectives into the open world crime sim.

With so many new additions - 13 events and 19 challenges in total - some of the standard rules and punishments dished out in freemode have been changed to suit the new gameplay.

Usually if you destroy someone's personal vehicle in freemode you'll be given a Bad Sport rating. If this climbs you get dropped into lobbies with other Bad Sports. Do it enough times and you'll eventually be forced to wear the Dunce Cap, a rare but very public shaming method.

Destroying personal vehicles also forces you to pay the insurance costs, as an added punishment.

On top of that, random killing in freemode ups your Mental State, turning you blip to red and eventually placing a bounty on your head for other players to hunt down and claim.

But with the Freemode Events some of these punishments need to be waived in order for them to actually work as a new game mode.

Below are the events where you won't be hit with Bad Sport or Mental State increases, or a bill from Mors Mutual Insurance:

Events

  • Kill List
  • Kill List Competitive
  • Moving Target
  • King of the Castle
  • Penned In
  • Hold the Wheel
  • Hot Property
  • Dead Drop
  • Criminal Damage
  • Hunt the Beast

Challenges

  • Player Headshots
  • Player Driveby Kills
  • Player Melee Kills
  • Player Sniper Kills

You will receive a Bad Sport rating for

  • Leaving the Hunt the Beast mode if you're playing as the Beast
  • Leaving the session in Kill List and Kill Confirmed
  • Destroying vehicles in Checkpoint Challenge & Time Trials
