GTA III missed PS Store update due to music licensing issues

Grand Theft Auto III was supposed to turn up in this week's US PlayStation Store update as a PS2 Classic, but it's been delayed at the last moment by music licensing issues.

Sony advised PSN members of the unfortunate delay via an addendum to the PS Blog's regular Store update, explaining it as an "unforeseen complication".

"We will update you when a new release date has been identified. We apologize for the inconvenience," it promised.

Responding to commenters, community manager Morgan Haro gave more details.

"There were some last minute issues with getting clearance for a certain audio track in the game; but the teams at Rockstar are on it to review how to best get this title on PSN," he said.

Thanks, Shack.
