GTA 5's graphical "downgrade" is a bug, will be fixed in upcoming patch

As of patch 1.8 for GTA 5 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, a few graphical issues have cropped up leading some to believe there has been a stealth downgrade to the game's overall graphics.

Over the past couple of days, Reddit went nuts over a video showing what appears to be a downgrade to GTA 5's graphics. The issue was first reported after the release of patch 1.8, on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Here's the video (by ElAnalistaDeBits):

As you can see, elements of parallax mapping (AF) as well as reduction to the deformation rate of cars are present. The popping rate seems to have been increased as well, making driving fast cars a nuisance.

Rockstar has acknowledged the issue and promised a fix in an upcoming patch.

"We are aware of some graphical issues on the Xbox One and PS4 versions of GTAV after the most recent Title Update, and we are investigating a fix now," reads the support page.

As of patch 1.9 - which came out yesterday - the deformation and popping issues have been fixed, but not the parallax mapping issue, according to recent reports.

We will be sure to let you know whenever the fix is applied.
