GTA 5 mod lets you experience the full story, including cutscenes, in VR

The best GTA 5 VR mod just got better.

Back when the first generation of VR headsets started appearing, modders raced to get GTA 5 working in VR. The results were often unsatisfactory, because the mods themselves were nothing more than simple hacks.

This was in now way more apparent than the game's campaign missions, which often featured cutscenes, complex character animations and other exclusive activities. This made your typical run-of-the-mill VR hacks break.

Years later, and Reddit user LukeRoss00 has spent months perfecting a first-person VR mod for GTA 5's campaign. What initially started as a way of getting their Oculus Rift headset to work well with GTA 5's campaign missions turned into a full-blown mod that lets you experience the entire game in VR, in first-person.

More specifically, LukeRoss00 worked on fixing the FOV in cutscenes to reduce the number of animation glitches to a minimum. The Reddit user played the entire game using the mod to make sure it plays nice with the different missions and activities within. Aiming is now also much improved, and so are install instructions.

The latest version of the mod brings support for MSAA, which should give players with beefy PCs an even sharper image. The mod was designed for Rift and SteamVR headsets, and many in the comments are happy with how it works with their Vive and other headsets.
