GT5 single-play scuppered by "extreme online traffic congestion"

GT5's single-player component is being lagged up by "extreme online traffic congestion," according to a Kotaku report.

While the the problem lasts, users are being warned that normal offline structural elements, such moving through menus can result in delays of "several minutes".

Problems are hitting the game's offline segment, ostensibly because it isn't offline: problems are also prevalent "when starting the game and during the various screen displays in GT Mode".

The fix? Disconnect your PS3 from the internet, according to Sony, who is trying to "temporarily alleviate" the problem by cutting off all user access to the viewing of logs, and in some cases changes to user profiles and changes to friends lists.

For the record, Sony turned on the GT5 servers on Tuesday. The game released yesterday after approximately six years of development.

We're saying nothing.
