Gridiron Thunder delayed to go multiplatform

Controversial Ouya title Gridiron Thunder is going multiplatform, and has been delayed from an expected September release.

In a Kickstarter update, developer MogoTXT explained that now that it's no longer part of Ouya's Free The Games scheme, is can bring the game to "all Android and iOS phones and tablets".

"In order to make Gridiron Thunder fully cross-platform, we have decided to postpone the launch of the game until October 30," the team wrote.

"Gridiron Thunder is coming along very well and looking great. Thanks for your patience and get ready for a great game."

MogoTXT voluntarily withdrew from Ouya's Free the Games program last month following questions about the legitimacy of its fundraising campaign. The indie made the decision despite passing an investigation by Ouya which originally resulted in a projected September 30 release date.

In its original form, the Free The Games fund offered to match Kickstarter pledges up to a maximum of $50,000 in return for time-limited Ouya exclusivity guarantees, which represents a relatively cheap way to secure funding if you're capable of a bit of skullduggery. Ouya has since modified the scheme.

Thanks, Joystiq.
