Gran Turismo 6 sold around 300,000 units during December in US - analyst

Sony and Polyphony's PlayStation 3 racer was the only significant release in December; Blizzard subs may be up, says Cowen & Co.

Gran Turismo 6 likely sold around 300,000 units in December, according to estimates from analyst firm Cowen & Company.

The PlayStation 3 racer was the only significant release during December, following the November month crammed with new releases and two new home consoles.

In a preview note, Cowen & Co suggested that although December will show decline compared to November, most publishers will be on track to hit their quarterly projections, including Activision which has taken a knock on Call of Duty: Ghost sales but made up for the shortfall with better sales of Skylanders.

The company also expects World of Warcraft subscriptions to be up and "robust" sales of Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto V.

NPD releases December sales stats on Thursday this week.
