Gotham Knights: Everything we know about the next Batman game

Here's everything we know so far about DC's next big game

Gotham Knights has been in development for a few years now, and with Warner Bros Games Montréal's track record of making some excellent Batman games during the last couple of console generations, it's become one of the most exciting titles of 2022.

Of course, the game is based on DC's Batman and other unique characters from its universe: Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood and Robin. They're tasked with fighting criminals and criminality in Gotham City during a time set immediately after the death of Batman.

But during their battles, they clash with the Court of Owls, a secret society who've been home to Gotham for years, and have to defeat them and their absolutely loyal assassins known as Talons.

Gotham Knights is expected towards the end of 2022

Gotham Knights' expected release date is 25th October 2022.

Warner Bros. originally planned this for a 2021 release. Of course, that didn't happen, an unsurprising fact given the number of titles that have been delayed due to the pandemic and its knock-on effects globally.

However, last summer, the publisher gave the developers much more breathing room, and the game is now expected in the Fall. The co-op DC action brawler is going to skip the PS4 and Xbox One, and will only launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Late last year, at the DC FanDome event, Warner Bros. released this cinematic trailer showing glimpses of the secret Court of Owls group you'll be facing in the game.

However, the gameplay trailer above shows exactly what we can expect in Gotham Knights. Not only will we get to travel using vehicles in open-world segments of the game, but traverse across smaller environments.

This is where we can also see the variety in gameplay, which includes everything from hand-to-hand action to infiltrating closed areas and using stealth to take down enemies. It's going to be interesting to see how this will also change depending on the character being played in different parts of the game.

DC unveiled 13 minutes of new gameplay on 10th May 2022, showcasing Robin and Red Hood's different play styles and more.

On 9th Jun 2022, Warner Bros. Games dropped a Nightwing Character Trailer.

At Summer Games Fest 2022, Executive Producer Fleur Marty revealed a new Nightwing Character trailer.

On the official Gotham Knights website, it's said that the game can either be played solo or with one other player. However, it's not yet clear if you'll be able to patrol the streets of Gotham with more than one friend.

On July 21 2022, Warner Bros. Games dropped a Batgirl Character Trailer.

Where to pre-order Gotham Knights

Hopefully, with such a firm release date given in advance, we can expect it to arrive as promised. And that also means some retailers have pre-orders open and ready. There are four different versions available: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, Special Edition and Collector's Edition.

In the US, pre-orders are available at Best Buy and GameStop. In the UK, Base seem to have the cheapest prices for the standard edition right now, but we've included all available pre-order options and editions as prices and stock can fluctuate. You can also pre-order the Gotham Knights Collector's Edition Compendium at Amazon for $39.99 in the US, and for £35 in the UK, which includes maps and tactics for the game, as well as behind the scenes images, interviews with WB Games Montreal team.

If you're simply after the base game, you can pre-order it for $69.99/ £59.99 on Xbox Series X and PS5, and for $59.99/ £49.99 on PC.

    The deluxe edition costs $89.99/ £79.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and $79.99 on PC. It comes with the base game and the Visionary Pack DLC, which includes exclusive gear and cosmetics, and Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and more.

    If you're an avid DC fan and want the full Gotham Knights experience, the collector's edition should tick all your boxes. It costs $299.99/ £279.99 on Xbox Series X and PS5, and $289.99/ £279.99 on PC.

    It includes a four-character statue diorama, augmented reality talon key, 16-page media book, exclusive Gotham City map. exclusive gear and cosmetics, and Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and more.

    The Gotham Knights pre-order bonus is a 233 Kustom Batcycle Skin

    When you pre-order Gotham Knights, you'll receive the 233 Kustom Batcycle Skin at launch. It's based on the vehicle’s first appearance in DC’s Detective Comics #233.

    Best Buy is also offering a free $10 digital gift card when you pre-order Gotham Knights. This can be used towards a future Best Buy purchase.
