Golem, the VR game from Marty O'Donnell and ex-Halo devs, is finally close to release

Golem, which has been in development for over four years, will finally be available this fall.

Highwire Games, the studio made up of former Bungie designer Jaime Griesemer, Halo composer Marty O'Donnell, and other talented developers in Seattle, has finally confirmed a release window for Golem.

Golem, you may recall, was first unveiled all the way back in December 2015. Though the game never had an official release date, it was expected to launch in 2017 or 2018 for PlayStation VR.

News has been quiet, however, leading some to believe the project had been cancelled. Today, Golem reemerged, still as a PS VR exclusive, coming to the platform at some point this fall.

Golem's main mechanic is the ability to take control of massive golems, which the game's protagonist - Twine - vicariously explores the game's world through. One of Golem's more interesting innovations, which made it stand out back in 2015, is a melee combat system that tracks player movement and allows for blocks, and feints.

Golem will be available digitally and at retail (North America, Europe), though today's big news sadly doesn't come with a new trailer. We've embedded the 2015 reveal trailer below instead.
