Golden Axe, Altered Beast and more part of Sega Reborn pitch - rumour

Sega Studios Australia reportedly made a spirited bid to develop a series called Sega Reborn, uniting several classic games into one overarching universe.

Although it doesn't provide sources, Kotaku reports the Australian development team pitches the series to Sega a few years ago.

The publisher did not greenlight the series, which would have remade classic games with new content and various changes, but strung them together with one storyline. Golden Axe, Altered beats, Streets of Rage and Shinobi. Below you can see a rough pitch made in Unity for the Golden Axe remake.

Sega Studios Australia, the Brisbane studio behind the upcoming Castle of Illusion as well as London 2012: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Game and Stormrise, is closing.
