22cans pulls price tag off extra continent in Godus Wars after uproar

Godus Wars was just announced yesterday, and there's already been some grumbling over it.

According to Eurogamer, there was a $4.99 microtransaction made available which provided access to a second continent.

Many of those who purchased the Steam Early Access title were miffed, as they had already dropped £11/$15 on the single-player RTS.

22cans eventually pulled the price tag off the continent and made it a free download, as the premium add-on "wasn't a popular choice."

"Whilst we think that it does represent good value, especially considering that Godus Wars has been delivered as a free update to hundreds of thousands of users and the lower purchase price of the main game, we understand previous Godus owners frustrations with this," 22cans CEO Simon Phillips said in a statement.

"Therefore, based on your feedback, the extra content will be available to all free-of-charge. Apologies for the frustrations and we hope you enjoy playing."

Godus Wars is available through Steam Early Access for PC and Mac for £10.99/€14.99/$14.99 and includes the original Godus as standard. A full release scheduled for later in 2016 and owners of the original Godus will get Godus Wars for free.
