God of War made $131 million in digital revenue in a month

God of War has been a massive success for Sony, particularly on the digital side.

It's no secret that God of War is one of the biggest games of the year, both in terms of raw sales numbers, revenue, as well as sheer critical praise.

Sony previously announced that God of War sold over 3 million units in just three days. The tally was later upped to 5 million a month after the game had gone on sale.

2.1 million of those copies were digital, according to market analysts SuperData. The same company has returned now to reveal that God of War brought in a whopping $131 million in digital revenue during its launch month.

This is well beyond Uncharted 4's $56 million, the other big, story-driven PS4 exclusive. It's also ahead of the multi-platform juggernaut the Witcher 3, which earned $69 million at its launch.

Although Sony didn't specifically mention the game's total number of sales so far in its first quarter earnings report, released earlier this week, the publisher said God of War performed well above expectations.
