Glyph "Mobile Personal Theatre" Kickstarted right before your eyes

The Oculus Rift might have some serious competition here from the Glyph, which hit its $250,000 Kickstarter target in just four hours.

It's not too hard to see why, either. The device is a similarly-styled Virtual Reality headset, but promises sharper images than such things can usually afford due to a pretty sci-fi-sounding piece of technology: it projects the images directly onto your retina, which "mimics the way we as humans naturally see light." It's both exciting and kind of terrifying.

It's designed to be used for most kinds of media, able to plug into your phones, computers, game consoles, and basically any other device that you might use to watch or play or listen to content. For gaming, it features a Nine Degree of Freedom head-tracker.

If you're curious, you can check out the Kickstarter page, which will run until February 21. Pledging $499 will net you your own prototype model of the Glyph. They've already hit the target, so the project will definitely go ahead.
