Ghost Recon Breakpoint gets AI teammates, free weekend starting July 16th

AI teammates are being added to Ghost Recon Breakpoint this week, and prospective players are being offered a free weekend from July 16 to test them out.

The announcement was initially made during the Ubisoft Forward pre-show, before being shared by the official Ghost Recon Twitter page. Check out the tweet below.

"AI Teammates are here, Ghosts," reads the tweet. "Fury, Fixit, and Vasily have got your back. Customize their look, loadout, and behavior when the free update drops July 15."

During the pre-show presentation, it was confirmed that your AI teammates are there to watch your back - if you go down, they'll do their best to coordinate a revive attempt. They'll also expect you to do the same should the tables be turned, so it's likely best to treat them as if your actual mates were playing Breakpoint with you. Otherwise you probably won't do very well.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is also included in the Ubisoft Forward sale, and is priced at £12.50/$15. Other games on sale include entries from iconic series such as Assassin's Creed and Far Cry.

If you're curious about whether or not to give it a go, check out our Ghost Recon Breakpoint review. Thing is, we only actually gave it one star out of five, so reading it will probably make you actively avoid it more so than entice you to play it.

We also wrote about how Ghost Recon could potentially reclaim its original vision. "Ghost Recon doesn’t need to become a retro simulator for a subset of fans who read military biographies," wrote Jeremy Peel in his excellent piece. "There’s a clear identity here for Ubisoft to draw on: right from the beginning, Ghost Recon was a game that left you exposed and overwhelmed, yet tactically empowered."

"Let’s hope we can say the same for its next reboot."
