Germany says no to violent games ban

The German government has decided not to ban the sale or distribution of violent videogames which was being contemplated back in June last year.

According to German website Game Captain, a petition with 73K signatures against the ban forced the issue to be taken up by the Committee on Petitions.

Parliament State Secretary Dr. Herman Kues, of the Federal Ministry for Home Affairs announced that "no changes to the current criminal code would be enacted", and instead the government will support public education of PEGI ratings.

Good news there for Germany, and gaming in general.

Thanks, GamePolitics.
