Germany considers limiting store game demos to combat truancy

According to this Deutsche Welle report, a Hamburg politician has proposed that electronics shops in Germany switch off game demo machines during school hours in an effort to combat truancy.

"Truancy can be the beginning of a criminal career and that's why we have to intervene," said Udo Nagel, probably whilst banging a table. "Not every truant becomes criminal, but criminals skipped school at one time or another."

Nagel is proposing that console stay turned off on week days until 3pm.

The interior ministers of Germany's 16 states will discuss the measure at their spring conference in Brandenburg on April 16-18.
