Genshin Impact Thunder Sojourn Rewards, Beidou, and more

Genshin Impact Thunder Sojourn is one of the Genshin Impact 2.0 update’s first new events, one that has a free character up for offer as well.

It's a familiar style of event in many ways, but still worth taking part in. Along with chances to earn Primogems, you'll get new Talent Ascension materials and even a chance at a free Beidou.

How to start Thunder Sojourn in Genshin Impact

Thunder Sojourn begins July 22 at 10 a.m. server time and runs through August 9.

You need to complete the Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves Archon Quest and the Ritou Escape Plan Archon Quest.  After that, open the event menu and navigate to Thunder Sojourn. Follow the prompts to start the first quest.

Thunder Sojourn is divided into four acts, and like Midsummer Island Adventure before it, these unlock at intervals.

Genshin Impact Bolt Blitz - Thunder Sojourn Act 1

Bolt Blitz starts the day Thunder Sojourn begins, and it’s a fairly simple set of challenges. Follow the prompts to the challenge mechanism, then reach the goal as quickly as possible.

You’ll use some new objects to get there. Electrograms let you turn into a spark of electricity and move quickly between Thunder Spheres, and you’ll find Electrogranums on another new item, Thunder Sakura. If you’re afflicted with Electro, you can also use Thunder Spheres without an Electrogranum.

Genshin Impact Lightning Round - Thunder Sojourn Act 2

Lightning Round unlocks July 24 at 4 a.m. server time. This one should be familiar. It’s a series of challenges tasking you with defeating enemies in a set amount of time, though there is one key difference. A Thunder Dwelling sits in the challenge area’s center and gathers a charge if you:

  • Are afflicted with Electro
  • Use Electro attacks
  • Carry an Electrogranum

Once the charge reaches a certain point, the Thunder Dwelling unleashes an AoE Electro attack that damages friend and foe in the vicinity.

Nobushi number among the enemies encountered here, so you'll get a shot at some Ayaka Ascension materials too.

Genshin Impact Weaving Lightning - Thunder Sojourn Act 3

Weaving Lightning unlocks July 27 at 4 a.m. server time and is another challenge where you’ll defeat enemies in a set amount of time.

Weaving Lightning’s unique feature is the Nimbus Gem. These crystals link with characters carrying Electrograna or afflicted by Electro and buff their stats. You can link with more than one Nimbus Gem and will likely need to, since Weaving Lightning’s foes present a greater challenge.

Genshin Impact Automaton Front - Thunder Sojourn Act 4

Automaton Front unlocks July 30 at 4 a.m. server time. This one is a new Domain where you’ll face off against Perpetual Mechanical Array. Thunder Dwellings and Nimbus Gems will appear at certain points during the battle, so plan your strategy around them.

Genshin Impact Thunder Sojourn rewards

Genshin Impact Thunder Sojourn rewards are split between the first three acts and act four.

Here’s what you’ll get for the first three acts:

  • Mystic Enhancement Ore
  • Mora
  • Primogems
  • Thunder Pellets

Thunder Pellets are event-exclusive items you can exchange in the Thunder Sojourn event shop for these rewards:

  • Hero’s Wit
  • Vajrada Amethyst Fragment
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore

How to get Thunder Crystals in Genshin Impact

Act Four Thunder Sojourn rewards are a bit more desirable. You’ll get Thunder Crystals from defeating Perpetual Mechanical Array, which you can exchange for:

You can also spend 1,000 Thunder Pellets and 1,000 Thunder Crystals on a free Beidou. If Beidou is already in your Genshin Impact party, this one converts to her Constellation material and unlocks a new node on her star chart.

For the other new characters in Genshin Impact, here are our run-downs of Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu.

Or if you're looking to get stuck into story content, here's where you can find A Flower Blooms in a Prison.
