GaymerX2 convention 2014 will be the last

It has been announced that this year's GaymerX2, the LGBTQ-focused convention, will be the last - in its current form, anyway.

The convention is scheduled for July 11-13 in San Francisco. The event, which focuses on LGBTQ issues in gaming, only launched last year.

The official GaymerX Twitter account posted: "Based on feedback that we've gotten, the new focus towards diversity in the industry and budget, GaymerX2 will be the final year for the con." It seems that budget might be the chief contributor to the decision, as the account also tweeted that "the size of our event and the amount of money we were losing to put it on became too much of a burden to keep at this pace."

There is hope for the event, as the account also posted that "we may one day do other, smaller events and we don't want to say gaymerX is forever gone."

Thanks, Joystiq.
