GameStop says Kinect's "looking to be the winner" over Move this Christmas

GameStop's under the impression Kinect will outsell Move this holiday season.

Speaking with Eurogamer, the retailer's senior VP of merchandising and marketing, Bob McKenzie, believes this this come to pass due to Kinect's sell through in the US at launch.

"I'd say right now Microsoft's Kinect is looking to be the winner of the two for us," said McKenzie. "We're very happy with the sell through over the weekend. It has met our expectations and actually exceeded our initial forecasts.

"I do have them both, obviously, and the Move sports bundle is a great option, but I knew for my family – with an eight-year-old daughter and ten-year-old boy – that Kinect was really going to be the thing that was more geared towards my household."

Microsoft thinks the device will do well at Christmas too, so much so it recently upped its initial sales forecast from 2 million to five million.

Sony's Move has been out since September and has so far sold approximately 2.5 million units worldwide - but Christmas is coming so that number will go up tremendously.

As for Kinect, it launches in Europe tomorrow, and to celebrate, Microsoft held a party of sorts in the UK which was full of skating, Leona Lewis, and a full five minutes or so of Kinect during the show.
