Games for Windows Live is now free

Microsoft's announced that Games for Windows Live is now free to download.

The essentially means that anyone with a Windows machine can have their Live friends list on their PC, and can now enjoy "free multiplayer". Kind of like the way they already could without using Games for Windows Live.
