GAME drops Last Story, holds crunch publisher talks

GAME has confirmed to VG247 its pulled The Last Story completely from its line-up, as a report this afternoon has said the retailer held crunch talks with publishers this week over its future.

While confirming The Last Story will not be stocked in its stores this week, GAME emphasised the rest of its imminent line-up.

A statement sent to VG247 read: "There is a lot activity going on in our stores and online this weekend including the releases of Syndicate: Executive Edition, Jak & Daxter Collection, Zumba Fitness Rush, Binary Domain, and Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition. The Last Story, for the Wii, is not in stock and we have apologised to any customers this has affected.”

The retailer has cancelled all pre-orders of the standard edition of the Mistwalker RPG, having previously switched them over from the collectors edition earlier this week.

"Unfortunately we are no longer stocking The Last Story on Wii. If you return to the store, they will be happy to refund your £5.00 deposit," said a mail sent to pre-order holders, via Nintendo Life.

"I apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The Last Story isn't the first game tied to GAME's ongoing business problems. We revealed earlier this week that the chain wasn't to stock Ubisoft's launch line-up for PlayStation Vita.

Before that, Tekken Prime 3D for 3DS also went missing from the shop.

MCV's reported this afternoon that GAME held a meeting at BAFTA HQ with its major suppliers this Tuesday, where it said its recent store closures and staff trimming were steps "in the right direction."

GAME has told us it's looking into the MCV report.
