Game Expo Scotland 2014 announced, initial events detailed

Game Expo Scotland 2014 is a new gaming showcase for developers, gamers and the general public. It will bring triple-a, indie, social and mobile titles to the masses under one roof next year. Get the details here.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, organisers Magdala Media Ltd confirmed that the two-day consumer event will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on October 4-5, 2014.

There will be triple-a titles, indie games, a retro showcase, developer sessions and competitions, all of which will be announced in due course.

The release reads, "As anyone familiar with the UK video games industry knows, Scotland plays host to some of the nations most established and emerging talent in the video games sector. It’s home to juggernauts like Rockstar North, alongside the UKs top universities for video game design and development."

In a statement, Magdala Media founder Rowan Mackie stressed that the group will be calling on the Scottish gaming community to help formulate the show, and added, "Having worked on the highly successful Scottish Bike Show and seen that grow over the last three years, it’s important to me to take those same values of transparency across to Games Expo Scotland 2014.

“As Scotland has such a rich and diverse video games industry, alongside a passionate gaming community, their feedback and continued input is what will make Games Expo Scotland 2014 stand out from other UK games events and become the premier Scottish expo for all things video games.”
