Funcom confirms June 19 release for The Secret World

Funcom's confirmed it's to launch The Secret World on June 19.

The MMO was originally due to arrive in April, as announced at gamescom last August, but this is the first time a rock-solid date's been confirmed for the game, which'll be published by EA Partners.

Funcom said this evening it had decided to invest further time in development thanks to positive feedback from press hands-on events and feedback from the currently ongoing closed beta.

"Allowing for even more time to polish the game really shows just how much faith Funcom as a company has in ‘The Secret World’ and how committed we are to making it the best it can be," said creative director Ragnar Tørnquist.

"The additional time will also allow us to carry out even more quality beta testing, and soon we will also be announcing several public beta events where hundreds of thousands of gamers will get to test the game prior to launch."

The Secret World was announced back in 2007, while the EA Partners publishing arrangement was announced last year. Originally due for PC and Xbox 360, Funcom told VG247 it was leaving its options open on the latter version.
