Fruit Ninja update adds new characters, currency, power-ups

Mobile slice-'em-up Fruit Ninja is turning two, and to celebrate, Halfbrick has planned a significant free content update.

The update is due on May 24 and includes two new characters, Gutsu and Truffles, to hawk items to the player. Meet the newest members of the dojo in the animated short below.

What items do the pair have on offer, I imagine you ask. Well, in short: Berry Blast, Peachy Time and Bomb Deflects, all purchasable with Starfruit, awarded at the end of every round.

The update seems restricted to the iOS version of the game for now, but Fruit Ninja is also available on Android, Windows Phone 7 and for Kinect in addition to iPhone and iPad versions.
