Free-to-play HTML5 Pac-Man is a monster

Australian web game developer Soap Creative, in conjunction with Microsoft and Namco Bandai, has created The World's Biggest Pac-Man, a web-based, free-to-play update of everyone's favourite dot-gobbler. With over 1,300 user-created mazes, economic productivity is likely to take a hit today.

Unveiled at Microsoft's MIX11 developer conference to promote Microsoft's upcoming Internet Explorer 9, the game will run in any HTML5-enabled browser - we've just had it running perfectly in Firefox 3.6.

The 1,300 user-created mazes are linked at the edges, meaning you can move seamlessly from one to another. To create a maze you just need to link your Facebook account to the game, or you can 'play for fun' without logging in at all.

At the time of writing global stats show that 167,154 mazes have been played and 16,109,848 dots eaten: what a greedy bunch.

Thanks, Gamasutra
